Spring is just around the corner and we’re all looking forward to the many outdoor street food celebrations in our area. As you know, good food really is a big thing in Italian culture and people from all ages and backgrounds embrace and enjoy food and wine related activities all year round.
With the good weather coming soon, posters are popping up everywhere here, advertising this year’s upcoming foodie events which are usually held in beautiful hillside and coastal villages around the region.
The great thing about these celebrations is the atmosphere created by very different types of people all appreciating the same great things in life. From families with young children to elderly village pensioners, schools and local producers… everyone enjoys getting involved in the careful organisation and preparation of these fun get-togethers which usually last all weekend or more.
Local farmers supply their fresh ingredients, cheeses and wine, or ferry tables and other furniture around with their tractors while school children and teenagers serve food at tables and help in various activities.
People visiting the festivals can sit down and tuck into various local dishes or national specialities, or wander around the artisans’ market stalls tasting the finger food on offer. You can top your meal off with a spot of shopping from the selection of local handcrafted items on sale or enjoy a glass of wine and an espresso coffee while listening to a live band.
In this region, everyone can make the most of the being in one of the best ever areas famous for its top quality wines, delicious genuine food and ancient culinary traditions and knowhow.
We’re looking forward to a particularly nice foodies festival coming up in a small coastal town near us. The ‘festa’ is set up in and around the grounds surrounding a stunning medieval castle, set in a small pine wood with beautiful sea views.
People come from miles around to enjoy this fun 3 day event offering tasty Italian pasta, meat and fish dishes, not to mention many other delicious goodies to cater for all palates. Not only can you enjoy the culinary delicacies but you can also make the most of the location by taking a walk around the bay, mingling with the locals by shopping in the town’s many boutiques or sipping a glass of wine whilst watching the world go by. For a good food enthusiast, this really is an great experience.
Many similar street parties are organised throughout the year and we’ll be there !! Being a very important event, not only will people flock from afar, but several famous food critics and tv chefs are invited for cooking shows, lectures and book presentations.
